Ministry of Interior and National Administration

The Ministry of Interior and National Administration is a state organ of the Government of the Republic of Kenya responsible for maintaining internal security, overseeing National registration services, managing immigration policies and coordinating National Government functions. The Ministry also manages the Kenya prisons and probation services.

The Ministry comprises of three State Departments:

The State Department for Internal Security that manages the implementation of internal security policies and coordination of National Government functions across Counties, ensuring efficient delivery of Government services. (Learn More)

The National Police Service (NPS) is a fully-fledged entity under the Internal Security docket that comprises Kenya Police Service (KPS), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the Administration Police Service (APS) and the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU). (Learn More)

 

The State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services that handles the development and implementation of policies related to citizenship, immigration and the management of national registration services, including the issuance of national identification cards and passports. (Learn More)

 

The State Department for Correctional Services that oversees the Kenya Prisons Service and the Probation and Aftercare Services, to administer correctional and rehabilitation programs. (Learn More)
