Counter Terrorism

It is in our best interest to continue to be more deliberate in containing terrorism and, at the very best, eradicating it.
These were the sentiments shared by PS Dr. Raymond Omollo in a meeting with the Programme Coordinator of the UN Regional Office of Counter-Terrorism based in Nairobi, Ms. Tammy Bunbury, where areas of cooperation were and discussed.
From the discussions, ways of balancing hard counterterrorism measures with soft community engagement was of interest with  UNOCT appreciating the complementary role that the Minsitry plays in law enforcement and community involvement through the  National Police Service and National Government Adminstrative Officers thus technical assistance and tailored programs found to be prudent as part of our Peacebuilding and Police Reforms.
Furthermore, there was concurrence   that this is a strategic time to band together around counter-terrorism financing, particularly in the NGO sector, and to address the use of the internet for terrorist purposes through strategic communication and messaging.
