The Government of Kenya has completed the Suam One-Stop Border Post (OSBP) along the Kenya–Uganda border in Trans Nzoia County, marking a major step in strengthening regional integration.
During an inspection tour, Internal Security and National Administration PS Dr. Raymond Omollo confirmed that the facility is ready for commissioning by President William Ruto, alongside EAC leaders. The OSBP brings together customs, immigration and regulatory services under one roof and is supported by the upgraded 45km Kitale–Endebess–Suam road, easing trade with Uganda, South Sudan and the DRC.
Additional measures, including border patrol bases, enhanced intelligence sharing and stronger bilateral coordination, are set to boost efficiency, curb illicit trade and expand legitimate cross-border commerce, positioning Suam as a key milestone in Kenya’s border modernization agenda.
