Internal Security and National Administration Principal Secretary, Dr. Raymond Omollo, launched a landmark assessment report on the Nairobi Protocol, activating a unified regional front to crush illicit arms trafficking. The critical security blueprint sets the stage for deeper intelligence-sharing and cross-border cooperation to intercept illegal weapons networks that undermine peace and stability across the region.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Omollo underscored that countering evolving arms trafficking networks requires urgent, synchronized regional collaboration backed by sustained international support. He noted that dismantling these networks is vital to safeguarding national security and protecting citizens from emerging transnational crimes.
The high-level event was organized by the Regional Centre on Small Arms (RECSA) in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) and the UK High Commission in Nairobi. This partnership aligns directly with the Ministry’s core mandate to reinforce border control mechanisms, safeguard national security, and promote coordinated responses to organized crime.
