The Principal Secretary for Interior, Eng. Karanja Kibicho today chaired a meeting of all stakeholders in taxi business to resolve the dispute brought about by the entry of Uber online taxi platform.

At the same time, the PS formed a stakeholders’ committee under the chairmanship of the Director General of Competition Authority Mr.Wang’ombe Kariuki to deliberate on issues raised during the meeting and present a report in two weeks time.

REPUBLIC OF KENYA

To restore peace, security and confidence among the people of Samburu County, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior chaired a meeting with all elected leaders from the County on 9th and 10th February (that is yesterday and today) and the following Resolutions were agreed upon:

  • That Security Agencies are directed to swiftly respond to all incidents of insecurity in the County.
  • That the Regional Coordinator is directed to hold Barazas and meet all administrative officers, security committees and KPR within one week from today. These barazas are to inform the people anyone who breaches these resolutions will be dealt with in strict accordance with the law.
  • That all elected leaders to hold barazas and meetings in Samburu County to sensitize the people on the resolutions agreed on. These meetings will be coordinated by the Governor.
  • That the Twelve camels and other livestock stolen be returned within one week.
  • That the County leadership will form Grazing Committees in their respective areas.
  • That County Leadership will ensure grazing patterns are adhered to by both communities
  • Finally, it was also agreed upon that those who breach the Grazing agreement will be dealt with in accordance to law.

HIS EXCELLENCY UHURU KENYATTA, C.G.H., PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA AND COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE KENYA DEFENCE FORCES presided over the Passing-out Parade of the Kenya Police Service Recruits at the Kenya Police College in Kiganjo, Nyeri County.

A total of 3,933 police recruits were sworn in to be deployed into the National Police Service as members of the Kenya Police Service.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced Government plans to establish a new correctional facility to confine extremist offenders.

He said a separate prison for extremist offenders will deter them from spreading their venom to vulnerable Kenyans.

President Kenyatta said the Government remained committed to containing offenders in conditions that enable rehabilitation to fit into society and make a positive contribution to their motherland.
