Yesterday, our gallant soldiers were attacked in a military base in Somalia by what is suspected to be alshabaab insurgents.
At this moment of sorrow to the nation and to the bereaved families, we send our heartfelt condolences at the same time, I urge Kenyans to stand in unity and remember that our resolve in this war on terror is unshakable.
I want to thank Kenyans who have rallied behind our troops, who have shown that patriotism can make us win this war on the enemy. Kenyans, thank you for standing up for KDF and security forces.
I wish to inform Kenyans that the war against terrorism, radicalization and violent extremism, we have noted with growing concern that they are certain characters who are still keen on amplifying the terrorist agenda through sharing of photos and sympathizing with the terrorists in such times of our nation's loss.
We have over and over cautioned the sharing of graphic images of the dead, because this emboldens the enemy. This will not be tolerated, we are reviewing circulation of the same and we shall ensure action is taken according to the law.
As I speak, I have already directed the IG to take action on those culpable. This will apply to anyone within our borders whether locals of foreigners, we will not tolerate those who appear sympathetic to terrorists, terrorism or their agenda.
I urge Kenyans to remain vigilant, report incidences because the terror threat remains high and as security agencies we are doing everything to ensure your security.
I Thank You!
MAJ-GEN (Rtd) JOSEPH NKAISSERRY
