The National Police Service derives its mandate from the National Police Service Act, 2011. The service is made up of two outfits namely; Kenya Police Service, Administration Police Service and the Semi-Autonomous Directorate of Criminal Investigation.
Administration Police Service(APS)
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations was established as a semi-autonomous office of the National Police Service in the Constitution of Kenya, 2010. The new office was created to ensure a revamped, professional and accountable service especially on cases of serious nature.
The Strategic Plan 2013-2017 is therefore anchored on a sound background and a restructured resolve that mirrors the national reform agenda. It provides a structured and specific framework through which the vision and the goals of the Directorate will be operationalized and therefore steer critical aspects of the DCI work into a specific direction for purposes of achieving the core mandate
